During the conference dinner of the EXRS 2012 the newly elected president of EXSA, Andreas Karydas, bestowed the EXSA awards of 2012.
The young scientist award for the best PhD thesis in the field of X-ray spectrometry was awarded to Marta Manso, Portugal.
The EXSA award on outstanding career in X-ray Spectrometry was awarded to Roberto Cesareo, Italy.
EXSA congratulates all laureates.
During the general assembly, June 19, 2012 in Vienna a new executive committee has been elected. Andreas Karydas became the president for the fifth biennial term until June 2014.
The GA thanked the former president, Peter Wobrauschek, and the Executive Committee for their successful work promoting the ideas of EXSA.
The General Assembly (GA 2012) of EXSA will take place in Boardroom A (VIC) on 19 June 2012, at 5:30 p.m., just after the afternoon session of the EXRS 2012 conference in Vienna, Austria.

The Biannual EXSA Awards for Young X-ray Spectrometrists will be handed over during the next EXRS conference in Vienna, Austria, 18-22 June 2012.
According to the 2008 GA of EXSA held in Cavtat, Croatia; two young scientist awards are announced, one award for the PhD thesis (PhD obtained in the last two years) and one Postdoc award.
Applications from young scientists at your laboratory are welcome.
The eligibility criteria and the application and selection procedure are described on our homepage. The application should be sent to Maria Luisa de Carvalho.
The deadline for applications is 31 May 2012.
During the conference dinner of the EXRS 2010 EXSA’s president Peter Wobrauschek bestowed the EXSA awards of 2010. It was the first time EXSA could bestow two young scientist awards as decided on EXSA’s general assembly in 2008 in Cavtat, Croatia.
The young scientist award for the best PhD thesis in the field of X-ray spectrometry was awarded to Matthias Müller, Berlin, Germany. The PostDoc-Award was bestowed to Eva Marguí, Barcelona, Spain (publications found by google scholar).
The EXSA award on outstanding career in X-ray Spectrometry was awarded to René Van Grieken, Antwerp, Belgium (homepage).
