Call for Research Articles: Special Issue in honour of Professor Jean-Claude Dousse

Jean-Claude Dousse, an influential figure in the advancement of fundamental and experimental atomic physics research, and in particular in the field of X-Ray Spectrometry, sadly passed away on June 21st, 2020.

EXSA and the Wiley journal X-Ray Spectrometry are planning a Special Issue in memoriam Jean-Claude Dousse.

We are calling for contributions related to Jean-Claude’s fields of research, which expand from atomic physics, fundamental parameters, to the development of high-resolution X-ray spectroscopy, both on a fundamental, instrumental, and methodologic developments’ point of view, as well as their various applications. Indeed, during his remarkable scientific carrier, Jean-Claude pioneered and influenced numerous aspects of X-ray Spectrometry, with topics covering a very broad spectrum.

As such, this Special Issue aims at reflecting not only Jean-Claude's research activities, but also the impact that Jean-Claude and his work had on the work of others, either from a scientific or human standpoint. This issue will also outline the state of the art of current research in the above-mentioned fields.

Friends, colleagues, and students who have been associated with him in any way, as well as any researcher active in the X-Ray Spectrometry community, are welcome to submit original and review papers to X-ray Spectrometry.

Given the breadth of Jean-Claude interests and publications, potential topics of submission include (but are not limited to) the following areas:

  • Atomic Physics
  • Photon-atom and Charged-particle interactions
  • Fundamental parameters
  • Instrumental and Methods developments in high-resolution x-ray spectroscopy
  • Applications in X-ray Spectrometry

Timeline:

Submission is open until April 30, 2022 extended until June 15, 2022
Expected Publication: Fall-Winter 2022-2023

Guest Editors:

Diane Eichert – Elettra – Sincrotrone Trieste, Italy (diane.eichert@elettra.eu)
Joanna Hoszowska – University of Fribourg, Switzerland (joanna.hoszowska@unifr.ch)
Michael Kolbe – PTB Berlin, Germany (michael.kolbe@ptb.de)

Call for Papers

Submission Instructions:

Authors should select “: in Memoriam Jean-Claude Dousse as the special issue in the XRS submission system. Regular journal submissions are expected, that will be refereed according to the usual standards of the journal.

Please see the Guide for Authors for detailed instructions on format:

Instructions for manuscript submission to X-Ray Spectrometry

  • Connect to the Manuscript Central of X-Ray Spectrometry here: mc.manuscriptcentral.com/xrs.
  • Log in using your XRS credentials or create a new account and select the Author tab.
  • At the Author's dashboard, start a New Submission and follow the online procedure which will guide you through.
  • The procedure requires the introduction of different types of data from authors' names and affiliations, to title and abstract, to the upload of files for the manuscript, tables, and figures. You can interrupt the procedure and complete it in a successive session. Please, remember to save the last input data.
  • To specify that the manuscript is a candidate for the “In memoriam Jean-Claude Dousse” special issue, you need in the lower part of Step 1 to select the special issue.

  • In Step 5, you can select an editor and should write there "Guest editor".

Once accepted, individual articles for the special issue will be published online first. Once all dedicated manuscripts, which successfully went through the review and editorial process, are approved, they will be printed together with the editors’ introduction and overview of the field in the special issue of Wiley's X-Ray Spectrometry journal.
