doctoral candidate position at PTB in Berlin, Germany, available
The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) uses synchrotron radiation of the electron storage rings BESSY and Metrology Light Source (MLS) in Berlin-Adlershof for metrology and spectroscopy purposes. Department 7.2 “Cryophysics and spectrometry” is offering a PhD position for physicists for further development and application of X-ray spectrometry at BESSY II.
The tasks will include
- Investigation and modelling of the interaction of X-rays with matter
- Further development and applications of measurement procedures relying on X-ray spectrometry, based on the use of synchrotron radiation
- Experiments for high-resolution X-ray spectrometry at the electron storage ring BESSY II
- Collaboration in international projects focussed on new materials in nanotechnology
