{"id":2802145,"date":"2017-04-22T12:37:49","date_gmt":"2017-04-22T10:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.exsa.hu\/news\/?p=2802145"},"modified":"2017-04-22T12:39:53","modified_gmt":"2017-04-22T10:39:53","slug":"exsa-workshop-on-quantitative-methods-in-x-ray-spectrometry-call-for-abstracts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.exsa.hu\/news\/?p=2802145","title":{"rendered":"EXSA workshop on Quantitative methods in X-ray Spectrometry: Call for Abstracts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In October this year the <b>European X-ray Spectrometry Association<\/b> (EXSA) organises a <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.exsa.hu\/quant2017\/\">Workshop on Quantitative Methods in X-Ray Spectrometry<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This workshop is connected to an Autumn School for graduate students and PostDocs on the same topic and will be held in <b>Berlin, October 11 to 13, 2017<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>We are happy that we could win <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exsa.hu\/quant2017\/#wslecturers\">experts in the field to give lectures at the Autumn School<\/a> and distinguished scientists (<b>Ioanna Mantouvalou, Mauro Guerra, Bj\u00f6rn De Samber, Yves Kayser<\/b>) to give <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exsa.hu\/quant2017\/#invtalks\">invited talks<\/a> at the Workshop. We could convince <b>Peter Brouwer<\/b> to give the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exsa.hu\/quant2017\/#wskeynote\"><b>keynote lecture<\/b><\/a> on <b>Quantitative FP-XRF beyond Sherman\u2019s equation<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of this workshop is to bring together experts and younger scientists from academia and industry \u00a0to present and discuss recent advances, research results and perspectives in different fields of applications including<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>In-situ metrology (for bio and energy materials)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>High-resolution (local) \u03bc-XRF<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>High-resolution (angular) GI\/E-XRF<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Quantification with Monte Carlo methods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Quantification with fundamental parameter approach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fundamental parameters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This <b>EXSA event<\/b> providing high quality training to younger scientists in quantification in X-ray spectrometry and giving a forum to interact within the community will allow for discussion between, academic and industrial scientists being an excellent platform for <b>networking<\/b> and <b>knowledge exchange<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Beside the scientific presentations<b> two panel \/ round table discussions<\/b> regarding<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When will we have better Fundamental Parameters? What is their benefit?<\/li>\n<li>Quantitative X-\u00adray microscopy \u00ad can we get more than images?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>are organised. <b>Michael Mantler<\/b> and <b>Birgit Kanngie\u00dfer<\/b> could be convinced to chair these discussions.<\/p>\n<p>Contributions for oral and poster presentations are very welcome. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.exsa.hu\/quant2017\/#AbstractSubmission\">Abstract submission<\/a> is open and available at the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/easychair.org\/conferences\/?conf=quant2017\">EasyChair<\/a>\u201d platform.
